Patrol Support

At Ruakākā Surf Life Saving Club, our Patrol Support Members play a vital role in enhancing beach safety by assisting lifeguards with essential onshore tasks.

At Ruakākā Surf Life Saving Club, we value the contributions of our Patrol Support Members—dedicated individuals who enhance our lifeguarding efforts without engaging in water-based activities. Wearing distinctive blue uniforms, these members undertake essential tasks such as:

  • Radio Communications: Managing two-way radios to ensure clear and effective communication among the patrol team.

  • First Aid: Providing immediate care and assistance to those in need on the beach.

  • Surveillance: Assisting in monitoring beach conditions and identifying potential hazards to prevent incidents before they occur.

  • Administrative Duties: Coordinating patrol rosters and maintaining essential records to ensure smooth operational flow.

To become a Patrol Support Member, individuals must be at least 14 years old and complete the theoretical components of the Surf Lifeguard Award, covering topics such as health and safety, roles and responsibilities, surf environment knowledge, effective communication, CPR, and first aid.

This role is ideal for those who wish to contribute to beach safety but may not be confident swimmers or prefer to stay onshore. By joining as a Patrol Support Member, you play a crucial part in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our beachgoers.

If you're interested in joining the Ruakākā Surf Life Saving Club as a Patrol Support Member, please contact us or visit our clubhouse during operating hours.
